Dmitry Vrubel and Victoria Timofeeva. Dmitry Vrubel Born in 1960 in Moscow. Victoria Timofeeva Born in 1969 in Odessa. Dmitry Vrubel is one of the leading artists of the second generation of Sots Art, a style that was created to neutralize the ideological harmful effects of the official language of self-representation of power. Vrubel gained worldwide fame from the image of Brezhnev and Honecker kissing, which the artist placed on the Berlin Wall. Since 1995, Vrubel has been working in artistic tandem with Victoria Timofeeva. Having become their common method of work, Vrubel’s Sots Art went far beyond the scope of pictorial portraits, taught the author’s textual auto-commentary and embraced digital technologies.
