Yakovlev Valentin Alexandrovich

Painter and graphic artist. Born in Krasnoslobodsk, Penza province. In 1906 he entered MUZHVI3. Started to be friends with I.I. Zakharov. Participant in exhibitions since 1907. In 1908, he published the monthly magazine “Swan”. One of the organizers and member of the Board of the Moscow Salon Society of Artists. Participated in all, except the last, exhibitions of the Moscow Salon. In 1917, he was elected as a delegate from the Moscow Salon to the professional Union of Moscow Artists. He was a member of the 1st State Labor Commune of Artists, the art collective “EOS”. He taught at the art studio of A.E. Miganadzhiana on Myasnitskaya Street. In 1918, after an exacerbation of tuberculosis, he left for Altai, and then to Omsk. He painted portraits, compositions on mythological and oriental subjects, and still lifes. The artist’s works are in art museums in Voronezh, Omsk and in private collections.
