Yakunchikova (Weber) Maria Vasilievna. Artist, graphic artist, ceramist. In 1885, the artist entered the Moscow School of Painting and Painting. In 1889 she left for France and remained there until the end of her short life, only occasionally coming to Russia. In Paris, she continued her studies at the private academy of R. Julian; in 1894 she left the academy, rented a studio and began working independently, exhibiting her works at the Paris Salon. Her name was mentioned among the names of the best Russian artists of those years. Members of the World of Art association invited Yakunchikova to participate in exhibitions and in the magazine they published. For almost six months, the magazine's 1899 issues were decorated with a cover created by Yakunchikova. In addition to painting, she tried her hand at majolica and graphics.
