Soviet, Tatar and Russian artist-painter, teacher. People's Artist of the USSR (1980). Laureate of the Stalin Prize of the third degree (1951), the State Prize of the RSFSR named after I. E. Repin (1976), the Republican Prize named after Gabdulla Tukay (1958). Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts (1997). In 2005, the National Art Gallery "Khazine" (Kazan) opened a hall of a permanent exhibition of the author's works. The artist's works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Museum of Oriental Art, the State Historical Museum in Moscow, the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan and other museum and private collections in Russia and abroad.
