Yaremic Stepan Petrovich

Yaremich Stepan Petrovich (1869, Kiev province - 1939, Leningrad).

(July 22 (August 3), 1869, Kiev province - October 14, 1939, Leningrad). Art critic and artist. Born in the village of Galaiki, Kyiv region, Tetievsky district (Ukraine). 1882-1887 - studied painting at the icon painting school of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra. 1887-1894 - continued his studies in Kyiv, at the Drawing School of N. I. Murashko, took lessons from N. N. Ge, helped M. A. Vrubel in painting the Vladimir Cathedral in Kyiv. 1900 - lived and worked in St. Petersburg, published articles on Russian and Western European art, was a great connoisseur and collector of Western European drawings. 1904-1908 - abroad, mainly in Paris, he worked in the enterprise of S. P. Diaghilev, based on sketches by A. Ya. Golovin, he wrote the scenery for the production of the opera “Boris Godunov” by M. P. Mussorgsky on the stage of the Paris Grand Opera. A participant in exhibitions organized by the art association “World of Art”, in particular, at the 1903 exhibition he presented a large panel “The Bathing of Diana” (based on a sketch by A. N. Benois), executed in the traditions of the old masters. Member of the Union of Russian Artists. 1918 - Head of the Hermitage Drawings Department. 1930 - head of the Hermitage restoration workshop.

Kashuro" at the Museum of Personal Collections of the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts. A.S. Pushkin in 2006 and was published in the exhibition catalogue.
