People's Artist of the USSR, born in 1914 on the Don in the village of Romanovskaya, Rostov region. In 1931, he entered the Rostov Art and Industrial College, where he studied under the guidance of Alexander Mikhailovich Chernykh, a friend of Vladimir Mayakovsky and student of K.A. Korovina, N.A. Kasatkina, A.P. Arkhipova. After graduating from college, Yazev worked for three years at the Rostov Association of Artists "ROSTIZO" and in 1938 moved to Moscow, where he continued his education at the Moscow State Art Institute. V. I. Surikova. There he studied with famous Soviet artists A. Lentulov, A. Deineka, S. Gerasimov. The Great Patriotic War interrupted his studies. After the war, Ivan Yazev returned to Moscow and graduated from the institute in 1948. In the same year he was accepted as a member of the Moscow branch of the Union of Artists of the USSR. From that moment on, the artist took part in numerous Moscow, republican and all-Union art exhibitions. The works of Ivan Andreevich Yazev are in the collections of the Yaroslavl Art Museum, the Chuvash State Art Museum (Cheboksary), the Rostov Regional Museum of Fine Arts (Rostov-on-Don), the Volgodonsk Ecological and Historical Museum, and in private collections in Russia and abroad.
