Honored Artist of Russia (1968). Full member of the Academy of Arts (1991). Laureate of the State Prize of the RSFSR named after. I.E. Repin (1981). Studied at the Moscow Higher Educational Institution (1946-1954) with E.S. Teysa. Was influenced by V.A. Favorsky. He worked in the techniques of engraving, etching, drawing and watercolor. Participant of exhibitions since 1957. For a number of landscapes executed in the mid-1960s, he received a silver medal of the USSR Academy of Arts in 1967. Participated in many youth, Moscow, all-Union and foreign art exhibitions. Personal exhibitions of G.F. Zakharov took place in Moscow (1962, 1967, 1971 and 1974), in many other cities of the country, as well as in Rome (1962). The artist’s works are stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and in many regional museums.
