Soviet graphic artist, one of the first creators of postage stamps of the USSR, Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1968), author of more than 600 postage stamps. He studied at the Art Studio in Moscow (1916-1918) under the guidance of Z. E. Pichugin, then at the art school at the 1st Model Printing House (1918-1923) with S. V. Gerasimov, I. N. Pavlov and M. V. Matorin; later he graduated from the school of engravers at the Goznak factory, where he subsequently worked for many years. Since 1922, he participated in exhibitions: he was a member of the AHRR AHR (1926-1932), exhibited at the exhibition "Artists of the RSFSR for 15 Years" (1934), exhibitions of Soviet color prints (1937), the All-Union Art Exhibition "Industry of Socialism" (1939) in Moscow and Leningrad. Participated in foreign exhibitions in Germany (1922), Italy (1927), the USA (1929), Czechoslovakia (1934), Bulgaria (1936), Paris (1937), and was a regular participant in international exhibitions of postage stamps since 1926. He held solo exhibitions in Saratov (1945) and Moscow (1950, 1957, 1965), including in 1957 at the Gorbunov Recreation Center, where the originals of his postage stamps were presented in eight thematic sections. Zavyalov's works are represented in the country's largest museums: the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, the State Russian Museum, as well as in regional art museums of Russia. His works are kept in public and private collections of philately.
