Zinoviev Alexander Petrovich (1889 - 1977)

Author of portraits, fantastic landscapes, allegorical paintings. Born in Moscow. In 1908 he settled in Paris. Since 1909 he exhibited at the Independent, Autumn and Champ de Mars salons. In the early 1910s he participated in St. Petersburg and Moscow exhibitions. Was influenced by the World of Art. In 1912 it was exhibited at the Autumn Salon. In 1914, the Cabinet of Prints of the Rumyantsev Museum in Moscow acquired two works by the artist. From 1914 to 1919 he fought as a volunteer on the Franco-German front, where he performed military sketches. In the late 1910s and early 1920s he worked for Parisian and American fashion magazines. He designed the interiors of cabarets and music halls “Ambassader”, “Folies Berger”, “Casino de Paris”. In 1925, a personal exhibition took place in the gallery on Rue Boetie, and in 1933 in the Au Portique gallery. Collaborated with the Bat Theater of N. Baliev (1927). In 1937 he took part in decorating the Chaillot Palace for the World Exhibition in Paris. In the 1930s and 1940s he created wall panels for elite Parisian apartments and estates.
