Zurlandt Karl Rudolfovich (1828-1919)

German painter, graphic artist, worked in the field of battle and animal painting. Carried out orders for the royal family and high-ranking military officers. Studied in Paris under P. Delaroche and A. Schaeffer. In 1860-1870 he lived and worked in Russia. In 1861, for the paintings "Horse in the Pasture", "Dogs in Waiting" and "Arabian Horses" he was awarded the title of Academician of the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. From 1861 to 1875 he participated in exhibitions in the halls of the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. The author's works are in a number of museum collections, including the Perm Art Gallery and the Horse Breeding Museum at the Russian State Agrarian University named after K. A. Timiryazev.
