Zhigimont Petr Ivanovich

Soviet painter. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1949). Winner of the Stalin Prize. 1934-1937 he studied at the Kharkov State Art Institute in Kharkov (graduated as an external student in 1950), in 1937-1939 - in Leningrad at the I. E. Repin LIZHSA. Since 1938, participant of art exhibitions. Since 1946 in the temporary storage warehouse named after M. B. Grekov. Since 1949, member of the USSR Union of Artists. Together with his colleagues, he participated in the restoration of the picturesque panorama “Battle of Borodino” in Moscow and in the creation of the largest panorama “The Defeat of Nazi Troops at Stalingrad,” which is exhibited in the Panorama Museum “Battle of Stalingrad” (Volgograd).
