Pre-auction exhibition and new arrivals. September 24 - October 23, 2013.

Dear ladies and gentlemen!


We would like to invite you to take part in the largest auction of this half of the year No. 136 “Russian and West European Art of XIX-XX Centuries” to be held on October 24, 2013 at 19.00 at Moscow, Shchepkina st., h. 28.

Traditionally auction stars with theatrical scene painting A. Benua, M. Dobuzhinsky, A. Zinoviev, N. Ushin, T. Bruni, A. Anushina. Provenance and low reserved prices fixed on many works including a string of vintage photos of the early twentieth century are one of the most attractive facts. Graphics section is finalized with three Chekhonin’s works, which were purchased from the heirs.
In the section of Russian painting, in the part presented for auction, V.A. Dudakov marks the following works: P. Dzhogina "Landscape on the River», N. Gritsenko, “Meeting of Emperor Nicholas II with German Emperor Wilhelm II during Kronstadt raid on 26th of July 1897.” The work was gifted and it was located in the collection of Emperor Wilhelm II. On the cover of our catalog that has already been printed you can see the reproduction of O. Della Vos Kardovskaya painting “Young Mother”, this picture was presented at the exhibition in New York in 1924. A. Moravov “Conversation”, A. Makovsky, V. Perepletchkov, I. Tvorozhnikov, I. Velts, L. Kamenev, L. Turzhansky, I. Krachkovsky. Two high quality landscapes painted by C. Vasilkovsky and I. Ostrouhov are worthing attention. Both authors are rather seldom guests on our auctions and on Russian art market in the whole.
This time we prepared the picking of West European painting of 19-20 centuries. It is presented by Italian and German schools and characterized by wonderful narrative landscapes and still-life paintings. Works format and reserved prices are rather small and we are sure that this fact spark the interest. The section of our artists, representatives of Paris school is formed quite differently. There are not many lots but they are rather considerable and distinguished by museum quality and provenance.
V. Baranov-Rossine “The path in the garden", 1907, oil on canvas, 101х99, is published in the exhibition catalog Museum, the Pushkin Museum, "Vladimir Baranov-Rossine, Russian avant-garde artist". Reserved price is 300,000 USD. N. Tarkhov “Flowering trees. Orsay”. Early 1900s, tempera and oil on cardboard 76х104,5, the picture comes from the collection of Swiss museum "Petit Palais" and was exhibited at the State Tretyakov Gallery. M. Kisling "Still life with fish", 1929, oil on canvas, 81,5х100, as well as Y. Annenkov’s still-life “Dish with shrimp”, gouache on paper, 47х61, 7, come from French collection.
The section of Soviet painting contains about 20 works of highly demanded academicians and representatives of strict style: D. Nalbandyan, V. Stozharov, N. Romadin, Yu. Kugach, B. Byalynitsky-Birulya, G. Savitsky, I. Sorokin, E. Maleina, N. Gorlov, I. Radoman, G. Zeitlin, E. Bragovsky, D. Zhilinsky, I. Obrosov, P. Ossovsky, N. Andronov. All of these names are highly demanded among collectors and we are pleased to note that most of these works we bought from the authors. These works are presented to bid by any of our funds or by the authors’ heirs.
Genre section is rather small but presented by the best things of 1950-1960 's. "The Kremlin ball" N. Korniyenko, a monumental painting "Revolutionaries" D. Nalbandyan, "Decent family" V. Kovinina. The main work of this section is "Morning on the Kulikovo field", written by A. Bubnov. The author version refers to 1947, as well as the one that presented at the State Tretyakov Gallery. This picture is enclosed with graphic sketch. The painting is placed with a token in our view price of 50,000 USD. The section of non-conformists and neoacademicians from St. Petersburg is represented by G. Guryanov, T. Novikov, V. Nemukhin, L. Purygin «The official self-portrait", 1994, 300x200. The portrait is the flagship of the section, which was acquired directly from the author. Monochrome still-life by D. Krasnopevtsev and romantically-fabulous "Angels in the sky" by A. Kharitonov are also represented on the auction.
The auction finishes with works of contemporary classics N. Nesterova, K. Khudiakov, A. Gankevich, L. Voronova, A. Roytburd, K. Zvezdochetov, K. Batynkov.
