Sovcom Auction House is opening the new year with an exhibition for Auction No. 197, which will take place on February 5 at 7:00 PM.
The upcoming auction features over 160 lots, representing the foremost names in classical Russian painting, the greatest Russian masters of the 20th century, as well as nonconformists and iconic figures of contemporary Russian art.
Among the auction's top lots, notable highlights include Alexander Gerasimov's iconic still life "Roses by the Window," Pyotr Konchalovsky's "Little House on the Skating Rink," and Nikolai Sverchkov's genre composition "A Troika of Coaches on a Winter Road."
Art of the second half of the 20th century is represented by works by outstanding Soviet artists: Arkady Plastov, Boris Shcherbakov, Dmitry Nalbandyan, Nikolai Romadin, Dmitry Zhilinsky, Boris Ugarov, Valentin Sidorov, Alexei Gritsai, Nikolai Barchenkov, and Yakov Khaimov. The auction also includes works by the founders of the "Severe Style" - Geliy Korzhev, Igor Obrosov, and Pyotr Ossovsky. A separate section of the upcoming auction catalog is dedicated to nonconformist art, featuring works by Ernst Neizvestny, Oskar Rabin, Vladimir Nemukhin, Eduard Steinberg, Erik Bulatov, Ivan Chuikov, and Vasily Sitnikov.
Furthermore, a significant section of the auction consists of works by contemporary artists, including both emerging artists and classics of contemporary Russian art: Natalia Nesterova, Dmitry Vrubel, Rustam Khamdamov, and Alexander Zhernoklyuev.
A significant section of the auction is dedicated to printed graphics, featuring beautifully designed posters by international and Soviet artists.
The pre-auction exhibition will be held from January 15 to February 4 at st. Shchepkina, 28.
