Engraving on the pedestal. A similar sculpture is published in the book: Dementyeva L.A., Evgeny Lanceray. Album of Sculptural Models. Moscow: State Historical Museum. 2011. Pp. 70-71. The wax model was created by E.A. Lanceray in 1873 and presented at the Academic Exhibition, after which the rights to cast it in bronze were acquired by the F.Yu. Chopin Art Bronze Factory. The genre composition depicts a linear Cossack and a Cossack woman on horseback. Linear were the representatives of the Russian Cossacks who lived and served on the border fortifications of Russian troops in the Caucasus in the 18th-19th centuries.
